Lent 2012

Perspectives for Lent 2012
(Looking Towards the Cross)

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Oh lead me
Lead me to the cross

From "Lead Me to the Cross" by Brooke Fraser

Sometimes people find themselves preoccupied with what will happen to them when they die.  Christians proclaim that we need to believe in Jesus Christ in order to be "saved." Does this salvation concern mainly the hereafter, or does it affect the here and now as well? So often we hear about what salvation means regarding life after death. For Lent this year, I will be posting perspectives about what Christ's saving work on the cross means for us before we die.
  • God and Volcanoes - We have heard the words "wrath of God." What would make God angry, and why?
  • The End of the Story - A man once asked St. Paul and St. Silas, "What must I do to be saved?" From what did this man want to be saved?
  • Accepted - What does it mean to be acceptable to God?
  • God, Forsaken - On the cross, Christ cried out, "My God! My God! Why have You forsaken Me?" Why would God forsake His own Son?
